Artist's Statement

My current watercolor paintings reflect my ongoing effort to extract the essential feeling and mood that dominates each subject that I choose to paint. Rather than aiming to render each subject realistically, I attempt to simplify the selected subject and to capture its essence in a loose and spontaneous manner. Working with the very unpredictable medium of watercolor continues to intrigue, test and challenge me. I hope that my work communicates to the viewer my delight in the medium and its glorious colors and textures and unforeseen effects.

Carky has been fortunate to travel to many places. Travel broadens her view of the world and also provides additional interesting and varied subjects for her paintings.
